‘Twas the Night before Christmas
December came around quickly and along followed frosty mornings with a cripness and icy charm.
Holidays are already happening around the world with best wishes for all being shared and sent to far and near.
The poem below was probably written Clement Clarke Moore (1779-1863) by and one of my favourite Christmas tales.
‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro’ the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas along would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar plums danc’d in their heads,
And Mama in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap-
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters, and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow,
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below;
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny rein-deer,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and call’d them by name:
“Now! Dasher, now! Dancer, now! Prancer, and Vixen,
“On! Comet, on! Cupid, on! Dunder and Blixen;
“To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
“Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!”
As dry leaves before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys – and St. Nicholas too:
And then in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound:
He was dress’d all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnish’d with ashes and soot;
A bundle of toys was flung on his back,
And he look’d like a peddler just opening his pack:
His eyes – how they twinkled! his dimples how merry,
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry;
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face, and a little round belly
That shook when he laugh’d, like a bowl full of jelly:
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laugh’d when I saw him in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And fill’d all the stockings; then turn’d with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.
He sprung to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew, like the down of a thistle:
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight-
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
No virus keeps cheerful enjoyment locked up;
When Christmas is coming our laughter shows up!
However, Christmas, Yuletide, Hanukkah, the celebration of this season is not for everyone, and it is yet another important time of the year to remember those who do not share the excitement and joy.
We all have different life stories, experiences, and losses we carry with us in our hearts and minds.
This time of year may bring up memories of the pains we have lived through, so bear in mind that a cheerful Merry Christmas is not always the appropriate greeting.
Sometimes a kind, warm, all-embracing smile or a squeeze of a hand, even virtually, is all you need to share.
A smile with an understanding that we carry our world and our life within.
A world that is sometimes shaken and stirred.
When we share laughter we step beyond the pain and connect in love and compassion, yet allowing the pain to step through the gates of grieving and acknowledgement.
We share a connection and a knowing that we are in it together.
Subtly.
‘Twas the night before Christmas.
With Love, Laughter and Grace

Being a Laughter Yoga Professional
Just outlining the options and setting things straight.
Laughter Yoga is not Laughter Therapy although it is therapeutic laughter.
Laughter Yoga International Certificates are approved and accepted for obtaining insurance for practicing and teaching. They are provided by teachers and master trainers as listed below:
- A Laughter Yoga Leader has completed 2-day in-person Laughter Yoga Leader Training with a qualified Laughter Yoga Teacher. Online training cannot be fully certified with the Laughter Yoga International certificate and online training only allows for online activities.
Day-2 must be completed in person for online students if they wish to obtain the official Laughter Yoga International certificate.
- To call yourself a Laughter Yoga Teacher, you must have completed the 5-day Laughter Yoga Teacher Training in person, and you must also run a Laughter Club and other important events.
Teacher certification can be obtained by training with Madan Kataria or a Laughter Yoga Master Trainer.
Laughter Yoga Master Trainers are only allowed to teach in their designated regions or areas where there is no other Master Trainer present.
- Being a Laughter Yoga Master Trainer bears many requirements including having taught at least 30 Laughter Yoga Leader Training courses, inpired the start of 100 laughter clubs, run minimum 250 community sessions, being accepted as Master Trainer, and more. Master Trainers are trained by Madan Kataria, only.
To provide Laughter Yoga workshops and laughter club sessions require valid public and professional liability and indemnity insurance.
In addition to the insurance as leader you are required to have additional insurance to teach Laughter Yoga Training whether it is 2-day Laughter Yoga Leader Training, 5-day Laughter Yoga Leader Training or even 1-day Laughter Yoga Basic Skills Training.
When you teach the courses there are many challenges you can encounter and without the suitable background you may find yourself on wobbly ground.
Knowing, practicing and facilitating Laughter Yoga is not the same as being a teacher of Laughter Yoga.
After training your journey only just begins, now real transformation happens, and that is when you become Laughter Yoga in presence and soul.
It is no longer ‘just’ a practice!
It is the way of life that touches you and everyone.
To learn more about how you can become a Laughter Yoga Leader or Teacher please contact Lotte on mobile/WhatsApp +44 (0) 7736341717 or email lotte@unitedmind.co.uk.
